Good filter, reasonable price -- does what it's supposed to.......... but ---

We bought the filter after doing a couple of hours of research. Essentially everything you'll read elseware about it is true. I'll just add a couple of detractors so that you get the whole picture.

1.
The first thing you'll noticed when using the filter is that it takes it's own sweet time. If you think you're going to get a full size stream of water at full pressure -- think again. So, plan ahead -- factor in the fairly slow flow rate, and you'll be fine.

2.
Everything functions as advertised. However, what is not mentioned is that the water diverter valve stem (the little metal button you pull on to divert the faucet water into the filter) does not always return itself to the off position when you turn off the water -- you have to push the valve stem back in to fully deactivate the filter. This may not sound like a big deal, but it can potentially destroy the filter! The filter elements cannot handle hot water according to the instruction manual which is included. If you use the filter, with cold water but don't remember to re-seat the valve stem to it's full off position, and you come back in a couple of minutes and turn on the hot water to wash your hands, the hot water will get unintentionally diverted into the filter unit and destroy the expensive filter elements. BE WARNED!

Other than the above mentioned items (one of which is potentially quite harmful to the filter) -- everything is fine. As long as you're not in a hurry, and always remember to push the valve stem back in you should be OK.

One final note is that someone else posted a review which states that the valve stem should never be operated while the water is on. The reason stated, is that the valve stem is fairly thin and can break if it is subjected to the stress of overcoming the faucet water pressure when diverting the water into the filter.

I really can't say enough about this water filter. The price is reasonable and it's easy to setup. Also, it came highly recommended due to all of the crap that it filters from the water. I'm quite satisfied.

------------

I have had this filter for two weeks now and love it. This unit replaced our three year old Roay Prestige unit and it is working better than that unit ever did. Not to mention this filter unit is the same price as just the filter media for our last filter. The water taste is also very good although. I cannot comment on durability since I haven't had it long but the quality looks good and the install was a breeze. I have seen other reviews where they state that the install was more difficult than it should be but it just installs the same way every other one I have had does.

I only got this a few weeks ago, but it's changed our entire kitchen situation and I even bought the shower filter! You might think it's too pricey, but believe me, it's worth the money! For those of you using a Britta filter instead-you're totally wasting your money, observe: [...] . This is the top of the line and will clean out EVERYTHING! Some of your water may be fine, but mine was NOT! I would literally get sick 30 minutes after drinking our tap water and was spending a fortune on fluids from the grocery store to avoid drinking it! This has taken care of that for good! Some people have complained about it being slow...well if it came out like a water fall I would question it's filtering capabilities, though I admit, I get a bit testy when I have to wait for anything, so I just put the free glass container I got (I ordered from their website) under it while it's going and go about my business until it's done (about a total of 20 seconds)and stick it in the fridge where it's easily accessible for when I need it...I'm considering getting a bunch of them so I can stockpile. I can tell you that this filter is worth every penny! It's going to pay for itself in another couple of weeks considering what I'm saving on buying my fluids and the aggravation that accompanies it, plus I'm drinking more water and filtering out the nasty stuff you never even knew was in your water, therefore it's a health investment. Plus, you only need to replace the filter every 6 months: which it tells you instead of having to guess, you can even sign up for "Water for life" on their site and get a 20% discount and they will automatically send it to you when you need it and you don't have to worry about it. Get it, love it, and move on with your life.

I've owned this system for many years. The company is great to work with if you have problems.

I live in a city with great water but want the best quality I can find and afford. There are more expensive systems out there but this gives me very sweet tasting water for about 10 cents a gallon.

My son moved out recently and took mine with him for his new born son (my first grandchild). If I could, I'd by a super-dooper Japanese system but I can't so will buy a new Aquasana system which is now on sale both here and on their site for 99.00.

I signed up for water for life with Aquasana. 8.00 a month comes out of one of my accounts and every 6 months like clock work I get a new filter set. It is a hassle putting the filters in so my nephew or son do it for me as my left hand is not fully functional but they do it in about 10 minutes or less. They've both had lots of practice.

The water does flow fairly slowly but my son and I have never had a problem with that (we tend to be mellow, me because of age, he was born mellow). I fill up 2 liter glass containers and put them in the refrigerator. I put one of the them under the faucet attachment then turn back to whatever I was doing in the kitchen. You intuitively know when it's ready. It's like running water in a sink for washing dishes, you know when it's time to turn the water off. Then I put the second one under and I'm set.

We've never had problems with the valve breaking but I'm sure the company will work with you and replace it. We know that most of the time it will turn itself off without attention from us but we always visually check out of habit. We also don't run hot water through the system although we have when we first got the system. I watch my pennies so don't do those things that are going to cost me. I can understand how hard this might be for families with young children.

My only complaint is that the white cords that connect the table top model to the sink are too short. As a result the unit has fallen into my sink a few times. I'll be calling the company about that next week. Do the research on line this is a very good system and work all the minor and they are minor hassles. If something doesn't please you call the company. I've had several contacts with them over the years and have always had good service. With Water for Life, if you don't change filters as soon as you get the new ones you can call them and put the water for life on hold until you're ready to get the new one.

The tap-water in Tampa Bay beach communities sometimes tastes so bad to me I began double-filtering my drinking water after retiring and moving to Florida in 2001. At first I used a Clearwater brand countertop filter and later an undersink inline filter, filling a Brita filter pitcher.

I purchased the Aquasana filter for my place in Kansas City where I spend summers. It cost more than the Clearwater unit I'd been using (teamed again with a Brita filter pitcher). I chose the Aquasana after seeing it rated No. 1 in a comparision test with 8 or 9 other countertop units.

"Delicious" best describes the resulting drinking water!

For $99.00 this is a deal! Their customer support is outstanding! I signed up for the Water for Life membership (free) and I'm very, very satisfied with the help they have given me. Plus they sent me six quality glass drinking bottles.

My water was barely flowing out after a couple months of use. Come to find out my local water system has a lot of gunk coming through it that was being caught in the filter itself. With the inexpensive pre-filter the Customer Support person told me about the gunk is being caught now by the pre-filter since I put it on. Now my water is back to flowing out as it was when I bought it. I've been buying new water filters for the other system I had before way too soon and now I know why, all due to the extra mile this company goes to help you have quality service and education.

I've paid big bucks for water filters and never got such amazing service...

We bought our Aquasana counter-top unit over 10 years ago and every single part still works great! We did notice a little crack in the hose housing at the bottom, now, but come on, 10 years . . . I'll definitely get another if/when it starts leaking. We have city water. Obviously well water won't work with any system but the whole house systems.

Then years ago, we would buy filtered water from a filter system in the grocery, filling empty milk containers. Once the news came out that you shouldn't reuse plastic disposable containers, we were looking for an alternative and healthier water system. Who knows how often the public dispenser filters are changed, right? The Aquasana cleaned out the water of almost everything harmful and the price was right - hasn't changed in 10 years, actually. The water tastes great, the unit works great. Here are my comments and observations, along with a tip or two.

1. I agree, it's slow. I'm willing to go there for the healthy, cheap, great tasting water. Yes, cheaper per gallon than any we number-crunched, taking into consideration quality and healthiness of the water.

2. It gets slower when filters are dirty. We use strictly for drinking and there are two of us. 6 months is exactly right for filter replacement. I drink just under a gallon of water per day, plus coffee (by the way, that's all we drink :)

3. We fill up a week's worth of store-bought, safe jugs, plus ice cube trays and remove the filter unit from the faucet. This is because the water pressure of the unfiltered water spout loses too much pressure for my taste.

4. The much talked about stem that switchers the water to filtered: If it sticks in the out position, I just put rub a bit of canola oil on it and it works great. I've had no problems with that skinny little stem.

6. Changing the filters: It's hard to unscrew the two housing units and I'm not all that strong, but if you have to use tools and crack the casing, you definitely put way too much 'oomph' into tightening them! Neither me or my husband have had greater difficulty than just a little effort when we tightened just enough to avoid leaks. The washers for the housing are very thin, very flexible rubber-band like circles. It takes a time or two of setting them correctly to avoid leaks after setting the filters, but not a huge problem. Make sure you coat them with the fluid you get with the unit. We just use canola oil now (our favorite, safe lubricant!)

7. We never found the casings cheaply made, nor the hoses. We are still using all the original parts with no reason to buy new ones even now.

In summary, we really can't imagine not having this system and recommend it to everyone we talk to.

P.S. NO I do no work for or have anything to do with promoting Aquasana! lol I just hope this reviews helps someone enjoy some extremely healthy, great tasting water at the lowest cost per gallon we found.

I bought this to replace a Brita sink unit. When I received it the divert-er leaked and wouldn't allow a steady stream of water out of the regular flow unless the flow was kept really low. It was annoying but I adjusted and in the end it was ok, I used a lot less water. Then about 3 months in it started spraying water out the sides sometimes. These days, I unscrew it unless I am filling a jug with filtered water. I has been 6 months since I received the unit. Today I am buying a new hose, and I just wanted to post a review telling about these horrible hose units. I was talking to someone after I bought this unit and was told this company is infamous for this problem. I love the way my water tastes. It's the best tasting of all that I've had. If my new hose doesn't function better than the one shipped with the unit though, this will not be a keeper.

had poland spring all my life, wish i had bought this years ago and saved me a whole lot of money on water! taste better than poland spring in my opionion, works well. the best part, UNLIMITED clean water, no more running out of water and have to buy or wait for delivery.

We've used this filtration system for bit over a year now and I go by my only measuring system: my family. My two kids and wife are rather picky at taste and this by far was the one that they liked the most.

I don't know what the problem is with all the people that complain about the filter changing, but it's been a great experience for us.

-----------

The tap water in my area tastes terrible. This filter works like a charm, the water tastes completely different when it comes out from this filter.
Its very easy to install.
I read reverse osmosis is very reliable so this is why I got this filter in first place.
It is a bit expensive and the filters are expensive too but if you consider the saving over the water you have to buy at the store, I believe it is totally worth.
The only con is that it is a bit hard to realize when you have to change the filters. There is no indicator.
I live alone and only use this filter for the water I drink. So I definitively make the filter last for more than 6 months (which is what the manufacturer recommends).
I just bought the filter replacements now, after over 2 years. The water still tastes good so I did not want to spend money over new filters for no reason.

------------

The product arrived in a timely manner and was easy to hook up and use right away. Water tastes good and I am satisfied with this product.

---------------
this water filter was easey to install and i can really tell the differance between now and before we had filtered water.
this item has been everything i read about certainly recommend it.

------------

The filtering process is good, however, my unit only lasted a few Months before the faucet attachment stopped working correctly.

I had to remove the faucet mount so I could use the regular tap water, and then replace the mount when I wanted to filter the water.
The 'push/pull' button does not function properly.
Needless to say this got old real fast, and I recently threw the unit out, I will never buy this filtering system again due to the aggravation involved with the faucet mounting issue.
Let me clear this up, the unit attaches to the faucet well enough, but the push pull button does not function properly, it did work well for a few Months, then all of a sudden stopped working the way it is supposed to, which is why I would have to constantly remove the faucet mount attachment to use the regular function of the tap without filtering the water, i/e doing dishes etc.

--------

I bought my first Aquasana unit about a year ago. Quick, easy install. Ours sits on the countertop next to the sink (I'm in a rental and could not mount it under the sink), and a few zip ties kept the hose out of the way.

We had great use of the product for about a year until the pin that you use to switch between regular and filtered water gave out, resulting in water coming out of both faucets when filtering, and just a trickle of water with the regular setting. Still, we loved it enough that we are willing to buy a second unit to replace the other.

We will make sure to the faucet is turned off when switching between modes; we got lazy about doing this with the previous unit, which probably contributed to the pin wearing out.

------------

This item was installed in about 5 minutes and we had fresh, clean water pouring out immediately. Purchased for our parrots and kitty, and of course, us. Love it,highly recommended by dad !!!

-------------

This is now the second Aquasana water filter that I have owned and I will buy nothing else. This system works great and produces some of the best water I drink and it makes water much cheaper than buying it. The filter only needs to be changed every 6-months or so depending upon your use. I used to buy straight from the company but now do it via Amazon to save on shipping.
